In the midst of many cast departures, Emmerdale star Mark Charnock has spoken on his future with the show as Marlon Dingle.
Four beloved characters will be departing the ITV soap opera this year, it has been reported in recent months.
Roxy Shahidi, who portrays Leyla Harding, and Lesley Dunlop, who plays Brenda Walker, are leaving after 17 and 14 years, respectively.
After five years as Wendy Posner, Susan Cookson is also going, and Paula Lane will also be leaving as Ella Forster.
Dean Andrews bowed out as Will Taylor on Christmas Day after a five-year run, while Daisy Campbell departed the show last month after 13 years after her character Amelia Spencer was fired by the show’s management.
“You can never take it for granted and you never know until you get your next contract,” Mark told The in reference to his stint on the program.
I’m an awful worrier. I find myself reciting lines as I drive home in an attempt to recall how I performed them. Emmerdale is a fantastic program to work on, although I am a little obsessive in that regard.
“I have loved every moment of my 28 years on the show,” the actor, who began Emmerdale in 1996, said, adding that he has had “an amazing run of luck” thus far.
“And what I love most about it is that it’s constantly changing, never predictable, and keeps you on your toes.”
Since daughter April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan) vanished over Christmas, Mark’s character is presently dealing with every parent’s greatest fear.
When the troubled youngster learned last month that her mother, Donna, had killed at the hands of her former lover, Ross Barton (Michael Parr), her life completely altered.
“There’s a village-wide concern because they all know her really well,” Mark recently stated on the plot. It’s completely out of character because everyone knows one another well.
“This storyline escalates, so this is only the beginning.”
