On Tuesday, Anthony Fox (Nicholas Day) of Emmerdale revealed some startling health news to his son-in-law Caleb Miligan (William Ash).
After arriving in the town towards the end of the previous year, Ruby Fox-Miligan’s (Beth Cordingly) estranged father quickly disclosed that he had terminal cancer.
But in the most recent episode of the ITV soap opera, Anthony told Caleb about a recent update he received from his doctor.
He described how his disease progressed more quickly than expected and that he was given a shorter life expectancy than he had initially believed.
Anthony begged Caleb to hide the news from Ruby, but Caleb was shocked by it.
Anthony clarified that, independent of Ruby’s prognosis, he wanted any effort to mend their relationship to originate naturally.
However, Ruby has been concealing the truth that Anthony sexually assaulted her when she was a youngster, as fans are aware.
A New Year preview for the soap opera indicated that Anthony would soon confess her romance with Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) and that she is questioning the paternity of her daughter Steph (Georgia Jay). This suggests that their plot will take a significant turn in the upcoming weeks.
In Tuesday’s episode, Ruby also made further efforts to connect with Steph, with whom she had been at odds for ten years prior to her arrival in the village in November.
Despite Ruby’s initial reluctance, the two had a great time spending time together as mother and daughter at a nearby spa, and it appeared that they were moving closer to mending their strained relationship. But would it last?
